DECTRIS has made future historians’ work easier for nearly two decades with its Annual Report. For the first time, the company outsourced the creation of this internal highlight document. Maend helped put the company’s updated strategy and values into practical and digestible context.

DECTRIS has created an internal Annual Report document for employees, shareholders, and board members every year (except one, and the founder Christian Brönnimann is still sad about the one that got away in the bustle of growing a business). For the first time, DECTRIS outsourced the bulk of the work to Maend for the 2023 report. The fact that both Angina and Ave have years of experience working with DECTRIS certainly made the decision easier.
This is not a financial report, but a collection of the highlights and most significant activities from the year, explains Clemens Schulze-Briese, Executive Director of DECTRIS Nano Analytics. In 2023, DECTRIS defined its official company values, while also making some significant updates to its strategy. Instead of writing a story about these projects, we used the “show, don’t tell” principle and structured the entire document around the values and main strategy points. This way we could show how the numerous activities and memories brought the strategy and values to life.
“A strategy on Confluence is an endless page that people stop reading after two paragraphs. This document used quotes from the strategy and nice examples with graphics, which made it much more digestible”, Clemens agrees.
Our Ave served as the project manager and she also took all the photos for the report. Angina developed the concept and structure, interviewed all the stakeholders, selected the data for infographics, and wrote all the texts. A design partner created all the graphics and the final layout.
“Working with Angina was a very smooth process, the time management was good and there were no hiccups”, Clemens says. “And Ave-Lii is good at taking high-quality photos in a short time: the quality-to-invested-time ratio is impressive!”
